I'm really surprised by some of the bad reviews. I've had this blender for several months and have used it every day with no problems.
After three years of "I *hate* this blender!", the glass carafe cracked all the way up the side while we were making a smoothie.
I have owned this for a year or so. I've used it all of 3 times... always trying it again after I forgot why I didn't want to use it. I could take the noise, what I cannot take is the rubber seal slipping off as its spinning.
I have used my blender about 10 times to make smoothies. Each time the smell of burning rubber became stronger and stronger with each use.
Worked great (other than the persistent nasty smell and super loud noise), until the motor fried under normal use after about a year.
