You trade off a more powerful motor for the convenience of single serving, an integrated gasket and the ease of cleaning that comes with that. For me it was totally worth it.
I use mine 3 times a day to make protein shakes, with powder, water and ice cubes. It can handle the ice no problem.
Very happy with the purchase. I would have given it 5 stars if it were just a tad more powerful but the machine pays for itself after maybe 5 smoothies, so no complaints here!
I have owned 2 of these blenders so far. The first one lasted about 3 months and burnt out...The lid of the second one cracked after a little over a month.
This blender is a pretty sturdy little model for people looking for a bargain blender.
